8 – 10 June 2026 

A training programme to strengthen inclusive agricultural and rural finance in the context of climate change.

This annual training programme aims to strengthen the capacity of financial professionals to better serve smallholder farmers in the region. Participants will gain practical insights into the development of inclusive financial products and tailored financial services for the agricultural and rural sector in the context of climate change. 

TARGET AUDIENCE

 

  • Managers of financial institutions (MFIs, banks, insurance companies) seeking to design financial products and services tailored to the needs of the agricultural sector and rural populations. 
  • Managers of fintech and agritech companies. 
  • Practitioners of international organisations and NGOs working on inclusive agricultural and rural finance. 

 

TRAINING FORMAT

 

  • Two-phase format
    • 10-hour self-paced online introductory session during 4 weeks for 60 participants through INCAE’s CLACDS course “Financing for climate change adaptation and resilience in Latin America” and through 2 webinars.  
    • 2-day in-person session for 30 selected participants from the online session. 

The Agricultural and Rural Finance training programme is jointly organised by ADA, the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade (MFA), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Central American and Caribbean Microfinance Network (REDCAMIF).

The online session is organised in collaboration with the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) at INCAE Business School, with support from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE). 

 

COURSE CONTENT

 

1/ Introductory Online Session 2026 — 6 to 30 April 2026

This self-paced session is delivered via INCAE CLACDS online course “Financing for climate change adaptation and resilience in Latin America

The programme is structured into key technical modules:

  • Climate Change 
  • Climate Finance 
  • Risks related to climate change for financial institutions  
  • Credit as a tool to finance investments in resilience  
  • The role of insurance in financing investments for resilience 

The online course is complemented by two webinars with experts and practitioners in the region. 

It is reserved for 60 participants through online registration (see details below). 

 

2/ In-Person Session — 08 – 10 June 2026, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

This 2-day in-person session builds on the knowledge introduced during the online phase and delves into financing the agriculture and rural sectors.  

It is reserved for 30 selected participants among those who attend the online session and who will take part in the REDCAMIF Conference 2026. 

 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION 

 

 

  • Certificate: participants who complete the online course or the full course (online and in-presence) will receive a certificate accordingly. 
  • Fees: access to both training phases (online and in-person) is free of charge. 
  • Travel costs and accommodation during the in-presence session: to be covered by participants. 
  • Commitment letter: selected applicants for the in-presence session will need to submit a letter of commitment confirming their participation.  
  • Language: the course is offered in Spanish
